Earlville holds annual Winterfest this weekend
EARLVILLE – The streets of Earlville will be filled with holiday cheer this weekend as the village hosts its annual Winterfest.
The Winterfest has been a tradition to the holiday season in Earlville for at least 10 years, and with even more events and entertainment, this year will be a festival not to miss.
According to Village Clerk Christian Vischi, village officials decided to hold an annual winter festival because they saw a lot of other communities holding similar celebrations and they wanted one to call their own. “It’s a hometown celebration in Earlville. Not necessarily a holiday celebration, but a celebration of the season of snow to get people outdoors in the winter,” he said.
This year’s Winterfest officially begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Activities and events will be held throughout the day, including a craft fair, the Earlville Opera House’s annual holiday sale, a winter pageant, carriage rides, the Boy Scout tree sale, story time with Mrs. Claus, a holiday parade, a tree lighting ceremony, a gingerbread competition and an appearance by Santa Claus himself.
