GREENE – Greene advanced to the finals of its own tournament next Saturday against Whitney Point with a thorough thumping of Harpursville Saturday night.
Crashing the boards in the first half, Greene generated 41 shots over the first two quarters, and prospered on the scoreboard taking a 32-16 lead into the locker room. “We kind of threw it up there, and if we didn’t make (the shot), we went and got the ball,” said Greene coach Jeff Paske.
Senior Dustin Turner scored 12 points in the first half, all on offensive rebound putbacks. He added six steals and three blocked shots.
Scott Gorton led Greene with 15 points, while Evan Moxley racked up a team-best seven assists to go with six steals. Greene plays at Afton Tuesday night, and hosts Oxford on Friday.

Clinging to a two-point halftime lead, UV advanced the margin to 11 with a big third quarter. “We played much better defense after halftime, and Smith did a good job controlling the game at point guard,” said UV coach Matt Osborne. “Offensively, we moved the ball around and got a lot of easy shots.”
Thomsen, who held a stark size advantage inside, scored 17 of his points after halftime. Smith had seven in the pivotal third stanza.

CHENANGO BRIDGE – Coming off a wrenching loss to Windsor earlier in the week, B-G/Afton responded with a perfect 5-0 day to win the Chenango Valley Dual Meet Tournament Saturday.
The Bears beat Delhi (63-12), Lansing (55-15), Binghamton (73-0), and Southern Cayuga (63-11) before toppling the home Warriors, 37-27, in the finals.
Leading CV 24-23, Jamie Griswold (103), Wayne Cirigliano (112), and Danny Gormley (119) picked up victories to clinch the victory.
Cirigliano, Gormley, Chris Burnett (130), Darin Terpstra (140, 145), Paul Parsons (152), Vinnie Buttice (160) all wrestled at least three matches on the day and finished with perfect records.

MARATHON – Norwich continued to make early-season strides winning three of four dual matches to place third out of nine teams at the Marathon Duals Saturday.
In a 37-33 victory over Groton to start the day, Norwich 189-pound Jim Testani clinched the victory with a win by pinfall. Norwich was later able to edge Sus Valley on pinfalls criteria (40-39) after the two teams finished tied at 39-apiece.
Tanner Cummings (103), Mike Hull (112,119), and Eli Hodack (152) all went 4-0 for Norwich, and Cameron Turner (140, 145) won three of four matches.
“It was a great weekend and we were able to get some young kids into the lineup for the first time,” said Norwich coach Terry Hagenbuch. “We had some real good results, and we hope we’re going in the right direction.”
Norwich hosts Owego Tuesday.
