Oxford accident leaves three Binghamton women injured
OXFORD – Three women were injured Wednesday morning when their sports utility vehicle ricocheted off the side of an oncoming snowplow.
The two vehicles struck each other over the center line as the SUV was heading north on state Rt. 12, about half a mile past county Road 3, Tyner Road, in the Town of Oxford, when it encountered the New York State Department of Transportation snowplow that was heading south.
New York State Troopers at the scene said it appeared that both vehicles were straddling the center yellow line when the accident occurred. Police said the SUV driver’s front fender struck the driver’s side of the snowplow, tearing the SUV’s wheel off. The SUV then spun out of control before coming to a rest in the center of the road.
