New golf pro takes over at Canasawacta Country Club

NORTH NORWICH – Canasawacta Country Club has announced the hiring of Charley Winn as head professional. 

Winn comes to Canasawacta with more than 14 years of experience as either a head professional or first assistant. He was most recently first assistant at the Shackamaxon Golf & Country Club in Scotch Plains, N.J. He also served as first assistant at Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club in New Durham, N.H. and as head pro at the Onteora Club in Tannersville.

Originally from Wisconsin, Winn currently resides in Ft. Myers, Fla. While the position officially begins on March 2nd, he will begin assisting with the arrangement of tournament scheduling and programming prior to relocating to the area.

“Charlie was chosen for his very personable nature from a pool of candidates with extensive experience and a strong desire to secure this particular opportunity for a head professional position. The management of Canasawacta is confident that he will fit in quickly, making members and guests alike feel comfortable and welcome as they enjoy the golfing experience that Canasawacta has always been known for,” said Canasawacta Country Club President Tim Carson. 

Winn has provided over 600 hours of golf instruction in his past two seasons, also providing a variety of programs to more than 100 junior players at his previous club. He is experienced in supervising a shop staff, growing the membership, managing member and corporate outings and tournaments, and providing a large selection of merchandise.
