SHERBURNE – Hamilton scored the final five points of the game to complete a home-and-home sweep over the Marauders Thursday.
Branden McDaniel made two free throws for the Marauders with 2:27 left to lock the game at 55-55. Less than 15 seconds later, Josh Haswell scored the go-ahead basket. Derek Cenicola, who led Hamilton with 16 points, drained a pair of free throws with five seconds remaining to seal the win.
“The last two minutes was a microcosm of our season,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard, whose club fell to 4-12 overall.
It was an improved effort over the 50-33 loss to Hamilton earlier this season. Caleb Brown hit five three-pointers and scored 21 points in a losing effort. Sean Boise added 14.
“I thought we did a much better job attacking their zone in this game,” Vibbard said. “We took the ball to the basket and got ourselves good looks.”
