Clerk’s error results in $30,000 loss

NORWICH – A clerk’s insurance billing error resulted in a nearly $30,000 loss last year for Chenango County’s Alcohol and Drug Services.

Once the error was discovered and the individual fired, the agency was unable to recoup the money, Mental Hygiene Services Director Mary Ann Spryn said last week.

Alcohol and Drug is under budget by about $22,000 as a result of what Spryn characterized as “a very serious clerical error.”
