SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville (6-13) avenged a three-point overtime loss to Sauquoit Valley with a convincing win on senior recognition night.
All five S-E seniors started the game, and that quintet had the host team on the front end of a 21-15 score at the first turn.
“I let them (the seniors) play the whole first quarter, and they scored all 21 points for us,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “That was nice for them. They came out and took the ball to the basket.”
Caleb Brown scored 11 in the opening quarter, Ryan Collins had six, and Phil Price all of his four points.
Collins added seven more by halftime, and tacked on five in the third to finish with 18 points. Brown had 15, and senior Cody Schraft 13.
“We definitely want to finish this season strong,” Vibbard said, who noted that if his team wins Friday at Ilion, the Marauders will enter the Section III postseason tournament. “We’ve lost seven games that came down to the last two possessions. We just need to keep winning and see what happens.”

“But we are definitely happy how we finished.”
