Wrestling tourney this weekend
NORWICH – The Norwich Junior Wrestling club and the Norwich YMCA will be host a 16-team dual meet tourney on Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Norwich YMCA.
Some of the best junior wrestlers from New York and Massachusetts are expected to attend. The tournament is divided into two divisions: Ages 5-9, with 14 weight classes; and ages 10-14, with 14 weight classes as well. Admission is $2 per person.
“If all goes well, we would like to make this an annual tournament, so all wrestlers out for the team will have an opportunity to wrestle in front of the home crowd more than once,” said Norwich junior wrestling head coach, Tim Scheer.
Norwich will host a second tournament on Saturday, March 7 at Norwich High School. It is the 30th annual round robin tournament, and all community members are invited to attend.
