Tenney to lead Sherburne parade

SHERBURNE – The St. Patrick’s Parade Committee has chosen Robert Tenney of Sherburne as the Grand Marshal of this year’s parade. Tenney will be leading the wearing of the green on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. The parade will proceed from the Sherburne Fire Station and proceed up North Main Street to the Cotton Mill parking lot. Following the parade GLENRAVEL featuring Mike Carnrike will be performing at Fox Run Event Center on Rt. 12B, Sherburne.
The list of parade participants keep growing everyday. Parade goers can look forward to three bagpipe groups The Syracuse Highlanders Pipe Band, The Hobart Pipe and Drum Band, and the Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band. The musical group Intermission from Utica, New York will be first time participants this year. The 2008 parade had thirty-five groups participate and the committee wants to increase that number for this parade. Local committee members are holding a raffle this year to support future parades there are forty-four prizes. The grand prize is a handcrafted small table from White House Cabinet. Some of the other prizes are Irish handmade quilt, Irish Basket of Cheer, $100 cash prize, 2- $50 cash prizes, 3- $25 cash prizes, hand-made soap gift set, Irish plaque and photo frame, Massage, Creative Memories scrapbook, Budweiser Stein, Chocolate liqueur, dog and cat dry food and gift certificates from: Cat’s Meow, ACT Physical Therapy, Judy’s Coffee Shop, Solsville Hotel, Nina’s Restaurant, Sherburne Big M, Skip’s Market, Joe’s Pizzeria, Norwich Pizza Hut, McDonald food coupons, Floral Fantasy, First Edition Bookstore, Colgate Bookstore, Norwich Dodge, Brae Loch, McCredy Motors, Gilligan’s Island, Smyrna Market, D & D Diner, Little Off the Top, Top Variety and many more prizes are donated daily. The tickets are available for purchase until the day of the parade. The drawing for all the prizes will be held following the parade at Fox Run.
Organizers are working hard to keep this annual tradition going and want to make it even more memorable than the previous parades.
