SIDNEY – B-G’s third win this season over Sidney ended the Warriors’ campaign, and thrust the Bobcats into the second round of the Class C playoffs this Friday at number two seed Odessa-Montour.
Just a few days removed from a non-league win over Sidney – one in which B-G head coach Bob Conway won his 400th career game – the longtime Bobcats mentor wasn’t brimming with confidence Tuesday.
“After playing them twice and just playing them the other night, I was worried someone would not play well, and that someone would be us,” Conway said. “We were ready to play tonight and we came out and set the tone.”
Dani Conway had her third triple-double this season finishing with 24 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds.
After Sidney junior Dani Gravel hit a three ball to start the game, Conway came back with a trifecta of her own to tie the contest. Conway scored eight in the first quarter, but more importantly, six different Bobcats contributed to the 20-12 first-quarter advantage.
Kim Hart finished with 10 points, and Shania Vandermark posted a 10-point, 10-rebound game off the bench. “We shot the ball well and ran most of our offenses successfully,” Conway said. “Sidney is rivalry game, and it’s always hard to go to their place and win.”

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville matched its team record for wins in a season with 17, and advanced to the Section III, Class B-2 semifinals this weekend against the winner of Clinton and Jordan-Elbridge.
The Marauders finished the final two minutes of the first quarter on a 10-2, and closed the last 90 seconds of the first half on an 11-2 spurt to give the hosts a 29-12 lead.
Stacy Palmer came off the bench for 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Caitlynn Adams added 11 points, seven boards, and three steals.
“We can be pretty streaky on offense,” said S-E coach Karen Mulligan. “We played tough defense, and a couple of runs were able to carry us through.”
Locked in a 4-4 tie, Adams scored on a back-door layup with two minutes left in the opening quarter, Palmer converted a traditional three-point play after an offensive rebound, and Kristi Vibbard canned a three to get the Marauders rolling.
With only four points scored in the second quarter, Kristi Irwin hit the first of three straight trifectas for S-E (17-4). Karli Harris added back-to-back treys, and Palmer canned a 10-footer from inside the paint taking the halftime margin to 17 points.
“We were a little too excited, I think, at the start of the game,” Mulligan. “We called a timeout, and after that we calmed down and played better.”
