KidsArt celebrates 16 years at the Earlville Opera House
EARLVILLE – Spring is just around the corner, but the Earlville Opera House is already bursting with color and fun in the West Gallery. Celebrating sixteen years in 2009, the annual KidsArt Exhibit arrives March 7th and remains through April 11th. The multi-media show features work from ten local primary schools.
The KidsArt exhibit always draws a crowd, which is fun and exciting for both the viewers and the artists. Over 250 local children will have their work displayed in a professional gallery setting! Gallery admission is free at all times, and the community at large is invited to view the artwork that students throughout the region are producing.
A Gallery Opening for all participants, their guests, Earlville Opera House members and friends will take place on Saturday, March 7, from noon - 3 p.m. in the EOH West Gallery. Refreshments will be served, and admission is free and open to the public. Last year, over 300 people attended the opening reception.
This year, the winner of the annual EOH postcard competition is Sean McPherson, Grade 4, from Burton Street Elementary in Cazenovia. Sean’s artwork is featured on the 2009 KidsArt postcard invitations.
We would like to thank our KidsArt guest curators for all of their hard work. These individuals help to select and mount the works shown from their school: Beverly Settle of Brookfield Central, Mary Damon of Burton Street Elementary, Kelly Holmes of Edward R. Andrews Elementary, Margaret Fetzko of Gibson Primary, Barbara Houze of Hamilton Central, Cynthia Brownell of Madison Central, Debi Pierce of New Life Christian School, Kathy Pfeiffer of Perry Brown Intermediate School, Storm Hammond and Greta Schiffer of Sherburne-Earlville Elementary and Kristen Thomas of Stockbridge Valley,
The EOH West Gallery is located at 20 East Main Street in Earlville. Hours of operation during the KidsArt Exhibit are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, noon -3 p.m. on Saturday and by appointment.
Earlville Opera House events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts and the generosity of EOH members.
The KidsArt Exhibit is funded, in part, with a grant from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services through the Madison County Youth Bureau.
