Boeltz receives postseason
honors
ONEONTA – Sophomore women’s volleyball player, Megan Boeltz (Greene), was recently named an All-SUNYAC second team player, and was also selected to the SUNYAC All-Academic team.
Boeltz emerged as a top middle blocker in 2008 leading the team with 138 blocks, an average of just over one block per game. She had 191 kills and led the squad with a .283 hitting percentage.
Boeltz was one of 51 Oneonta State athletes to make the All-Academic team, and one of just 21 named to the Commissioner’s list. To qualify for the award, the student must be a varsity athlete and have at least a 3.3 grade point average in the fall semester.

Lathrop wins America East title
BOSTON – Ashlee Lathrop (Sherburne-Earlville), a junior on the University of New Hampshire women’s track and field team, captured the weight throw title at the America East track and Field Championships Feb. 20-21 at Boston University.
Lathrop, a high school record-holder for S-E in the discus and shot put, broke New Hampshire’s school record in the wight throw three times this season, and was the America East’s Women’s Track Performer of the Week for week-ending Dec. 7.
The 2006 Sherburne-Earlville graduate won last weekend’s America East title with a weight throw toss of 57-feet, 3-inches. The toss qualified Lathrop for the ECAC Championships this weekend.

Franklin posting strong season
FAYETTE, Ia. – Trevor Franklin was the first state champion in Unadilla Valley history, and he’s coming into his own this season at NCAA Division II Upper Iowa.
Coming off a redshirt freshman season in which was 15-1 overall as an unattached competitor, Franklin is competing at 133 pounds, and has posted a 23-4 overall record through last weekend.
He has a 14-match winning streak and is ranked number five in the nation in the latest Division II national poll.
Included in his 23 wins are 12 pins, one technical fall, and three major decisions. The Division II national tournament is scheduled March 13-14 in Houston, Texas.


Potter named to the MSAC All-Conference Team
SYRACUSE – Onondaga Community College men’s basketball player Matt Potter (New Berlin Unadilla Valley) has been named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference All-Conference team for the 2008-09 season.
Potter, a sophomore forward, finished ninth in the conference in scoring and second in rebounding, averaging 15.4 points and 10.3 rebounds in conference play. Potter also led the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 55.8 percent from the floor, finished third in blocked shots with 1.9 per game, and seventh in free throw percentage, shooting 69.5 percent from the line.
Overall, Potter is averaging 14.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocked shots per game, and is shooting 56.2 percent from the floor. He already established a new Onondaga single season record for blocked shots with 73, and has twice tied the Lazer single-game mark of 21 rebounds, accomplishing that feat in wins at Broome Community College on Jan. 17, and Tompkins Cortland Community College on Feb.17. He was the MSAC Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Jan.18.
