GREENE – Greene won its second straight game to even its mark on the season holding Whitney Point scoreless over the final six innings.
McKay Ross singled and scored on an error putting the Golden Eagles in front after one inning.
Logan Montgomery scored the tying run for Greene after back-to-back Point errors in the second inning, and Erin Smith came home with the go-ahead run after a Rebecca Hanrahan hit and ensuing passed ball in the third. Haley MacLaren drove in Amy David with an insurance run in the fourth.
Hanrahan earned the victory striking out 11, walking four, and allowing just two basehits. Hanrahan also connected for a two basehits. (Hanrahan) is mixing up her pitches and doing a nice job,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “I can’t tell you how important the experience of these early (close) games have been. I hope it pays off in the end.”
Greene hosts Oxford Thursday.

OTEGO – Tyler Newman struck out 12 in five innings of shutout work for the Spartans, who blanked the Bobcats on Friday.
Cody Chambers, Dale Rifenbark, and Cody Renwick all had three hits for the Spartans. Chambers and Renwick led with three RBI apiece.
