Greene 13, B-G 9
GREENE – Down by two runs, Greene plated five in the fifth inning, none of the runs coming on a basehit, to take the lead for good against B-G Wednesday afternoon.
Two sacrifice flies tied the game, and a bases-loaded walk put Greene in front 9-8. Two errors – of the three made by B-G – ensued to give the host club a three-run cushion.
“They didn’t make too many mistakes, but they had a couple of errors that helped us,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “We won a game where we were a little sloppy. We didn’t do as well defensively as we had in previous games, but we still made good plays, and made good ones when we needed them.”
Nic Puglisi had three hits, Gage Crumb had two hits and two ribbies, Nate Whittaker had a solo homer in the first and finished with two hits, and Alex Kinne added two base knocks in the victory.
Dustin Rutz doubled twice for B-G in finishing with three hits and three RBI.
Greene (3-1-1) is at Afton Monday.

Oxford 14, Sidney 5
SIDNEY – Oxford halted a three-game winless streak to start the season winning at Sidney Wednesday afternoon.
The Blackhawks drew nine walks and benefited from six Sidney errors, while its own pitching and defense rendered a mere two walks and committed a single error. “Not making mistakes and having just two walks, that was the biggest difference in this game,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer.
Oxford scored the initial two runs of the game without a hit, and tacked on two more in the second on RBI singles by Derrick Head and Tom Gould.
Gould finished 3-for-3, and winning pitcher P.J. Hubman reached base safely in all six trips to the plate finishing two two hits, three runs scored, and three RBI.
“We had a shot to win the first three games, and the kids battled back today after a tough loss (to Greene) yesterday,” Palmer said.
Oxford plays at Unadilla Valley today.

G-MU 7, Harpursville 4 (9 innings)
HARPURSVILLE – G-MU picked up a non-league victory over nine innings scoring three runs on passed balls and wild pitches in its final at-bat.
Alex Schmidt walked, Cody Luettger singled, and Cody Hall reached on an error to load the bases. All three came home without the benefit of a hit.
Tyler Wildfeir went nine innings for the win striking out nine and walking two. He worked out of a jam in the eighth when Harpursville put its first two batters on base. He proceeded to sandwich two strikeouts around a pop out.
“He’s a big, strong kid who throws a lot on the side, and he was great today,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson of Wildfeir. “That was a quality win for us. It’s tough to win extra innings games on the road.”
Wildfeir had an RBI double in the first inning, and freshman Greg Delaney drove in two with a single in the fourth.
