SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley put a half dozen runs on the board in the first two innings, and beat George Jr. Republic for the second time this season, Tuesday at home.
Freshman Dillon Comfort hit a three-run triple in the first inning and added an RBI single in the second. He also pitched four innings giving up two hits for his first career varsity win.
Brad Wentworth added a 3-for-4 day for OV (3-0), while Karl Graham, Jamin Selan, and Comfort finished with two hits apiece.
The Vikings play at Madison Thursday.

COPES CORNERS – G-MU defeated Downsville for the second time this season bunching its runs over the final three innings.
The Raiders scored two runs in the fourth to break a scoreless tie, and did so without a basehit.
Tyler Wildfier struck for two-run singles in the fifth and sixth innings helping G-MU pull away. “It was a tough one tonight, not like the first time we played them,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “We hit the ball tonight – we only struck out four times. We just hit it at them and they made plays that they didn’t make when we played them earlier this season.”
Nate Sloan struck out eight and allowed two hits in five-plus innings of work to get the win.

OXFORD – Oxford built a big advantage after four innings, and hung on for its second win in as many days.
Jamie Smolcknop had an RBI single to start a six-run third, and a few opportunistic plays later, Eddie Grundner capped the uprising with a two-run single.
Deposit trailed by as many as seven runs, but closed to within two on the strength of a four-run seventh. “We kept battling, and that’s two days in a row where we were mentally tough,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “It got dark at the end and it started to rain, but we held on for the win. We were opportunistic early in the game to put ourselves in position to win.”
Smolcknop had two hits, three RBI, and three runs scored. P.J. Hubman reached base safely in five trips to the plate finishing 2-for-2 with three runs.

Alyshia Crawford went 4-for-5 for Oxford, and Julie Heggie added a 3-for-4 day at the plate. “They made really good plays at the end of the game when we had runners in scoring position,” said Oxford coach Margo Barrows. “We just came up a little short.”

NORWICH – Laurent Dure won four individual events for the SV boys, who claimed all but three events in a victory at Norwich Tuesday.
Dure swept the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and added a pair of field event victories in the high jump and triple jump.
Mike Reilly swept the 110- and 400-meter hurdles for Norwich, and Steven Spittler took the 800 meters.
SV’s girls swept the 1,500- and 3,000-meter races to provide the difference in its win over the Tornado.
Kayla May set personal bests in three events for Norwich winning the 100- and 400-meter hurdles. Sarah Bonnell had four overall victories for the Tornado setting a personal-best in the 200-meter dash, and tying her career-low time in the 100 meters (12.9).
Norwich hosts the annual REK Invitational Friday at 5 p.m.

SHERBURNE – The Marauders’ girls grabbed victories in eight of 17 events in a four-way meet to surpass Mount Markham, Cincinnatus, and Owen D. Young Tuesday.
The Marauders captured all three relays, while Alysha Harlost grabbed first in the high jump and long jump. Sofeia Eddy (1,500 meters), Stephanie Staley (pole vault), and Emily Wagner (triple jump) also found the win column.
On the boys’ side, Mount Markham and S-E finished first and second respectively, far ahead of the other two clubs.
S-E’s highlight came by way of a one-two-three sweep in the 400-yard dash in which Nathan Jacobs took first.
