SOUTH OTSELIC – Playing its fourth one-run game of the season, OV rallied over the final three innings to secure its first win in a tight game, and likely earn a Section III postseason bid in the process.
The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 5-5. In the eighth. Brian Manwarren and David Cerasani had basehits, and Brad Wentworth drove in Manwarren with the game-winning run.
Cerasani went 3-for-5 for OV (9-5), and Trevor Marston drove in two runs. The Vikings held tight on defense in the eighth turning an around-the-horn double play to thwart a Madison scoring threat.
“We had to battle back in this game, and battle back we did,” said OV coach Dave Loomis.

LAURENS – G-MU finished division play with a 9-1 record, and will meet Edmeston Friday at Morris High School in a playoff for the Tri-Valley League division one title.
Tyler Wildfeir extended his perfect record on the mound to 7-0 allowing two hits. He struck out eight and walked just one.
The Raiders (13-3) strung six hits together with two outs in the third to plate five runs and break a 1-1 tie. Cody Hall doubled to drive in Cody Luettger with the first run. Wildfeir backed that up with an RBI double, Andrew Delmar singled in a run, Corin Todd’s two-bagger plated the fourth run, and Alex Schmidt singled in Todd giving G-MU a five-run lead.
Wildfeir allowed a lead-off hit to start the game to Laurens’ Ryan Carr, and was nearly untouchable the rest of the way. “He moves the ball around and just pounds the strike zone,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “He gets his strikeouts, but he also makes the other team put the ball in play for relatively easy outs.”
Hall and Wildfeir led G-MU with two hits and two RBI apiece. The Raiders meet Edmeston at 4:30 p.m.

BAINBRIDGE – Walton opened up its lead with four runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-1 lead and hand B-G a loss in the Bobcats’ final game this season.
Kyle Baxley had a two-run single in the inning and Robbie Rigas added a run-scoring single. Corey Endress led the Warriors with a 3-for-4 day.
“It seemed like everything they hit in the sixth inning found a hole,” said B-G coach Pete Mansheffer. “I thought we played well and made all the routine plays, and I though we pitched pretty well.”
Walton finished the contest error-free and winning pitcher Bryant Mead scattered six hits for the victory.
Dustin Rutz had two hits for B-G (3-13-1) with an RBI and a run scored.

AFTON – Casey Mohrein threw a four-hit shutout against the Trojans Wednesday as the Crimson Knights rebounded from a tough loss to Deposit on Monday.
Mohrein gave up two hits to start the game, then settled in the rest of the way finishing with nine strikeouts and one walk. “He pitched a gem today and we played some good defense behind him,” said Afton coach Ron Rapp of Mohrein’s performance. “I know Greene’s hitters, and I expected the top of their order to hit it well. Casey did a good job keeping them off-balance.”
Jake Arnold had an RBI single for Afton (14-5) in the third inning, and Mohrein buoyed his own pitching effort with an RBI double in the fourth. Tyler Lawrence led Afton with two hits.
