OXFORD – Oxford improved to 2-1 on the season when Ryan Moore scored on a wild pitch in the 10th inning giving his team an 8-7 victory over Sherburne Tuesday in Otsenango Pony League play.
Oxford led through the first six innings, and started the game in the bottom of the first with a seven-run uprising. Cammeron Heggie and Shawn McKee had two-run RBI singles to highlight the frame.
Sherburne’s hurlers held the Oxford batters scoreless – and hitless – the next eight innings, and Keith Vibbard’s bases-loaded single in the seventh plated two runs to force extra innings.
Moore picked up the victory for Oxford pitching 3 2-3 innings of relief. Oxford faces Bainbridge today.
