Oxford announces top seniors

OXFORD – Mrs. Christine Pierce, High School Principal, has announced the Valedictorian and Salutatorian at Oxford Academy & Central High School. Since Oxford traditionally honors the top five students, the other three are included as well.
David Robert Allen, son of Robert & Virginia Allen, Phetteplace Road, Oxford, is the class Valedictorian. He is President of the National Honor Society and Student Government Treasurer. He attended the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. and represented our school at Boys’ State. In addition he is very involved in the arts, Band, Marching Band, Chorus, Dance, and President of the Drama Club. He volunteers for many organizations in the community and works for the Oxford Summer Reading Program.
Myranda Lee Batsford, daughter of Edward and Mary Batsford, County Road 5, McDonough, is the class Salutatorian. She is Secretary of the Student Government and a member of the National Honor Society. Myranda participates in Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band and Chorus. She also contributes to numerous community musical groups and has been a member of the Venturing Crew. She is a member of the Drama Club, Multicultural Club, Yearbook staff and Tennis team.
Julian Peter Bevan, son of Michael and Valerie Bevan, County Road 27, Oxford, is a member of the Student Government and the National Honor Society. He participated in Chorus, Tennis, Soccer and the Multi-Cultural Club. He attended leadership conferences and represented our school at Boys’ State.
Erica Lyon DeWispelaere, daughter of Michael DeWispelaere and Cheryl Lyon, Moran Road, Oxford, is a member of the National Honor Society. She is active in Chorus, All State Chorus, and NYSSMA. She is a member of the Multicultural Club and is an integral member of the Girls Tennis team. Outside of school she is active in the Girl Scouts and participates in Dance.
Olivia Mary Powell, daughter of Sandra Powell and the late Glenn Powell, is Vice-President of the National Honor Society and is a class officer in Student Government. She is active in all areas of our Music department including Band, Jazz Band, and Chorus. She was a member of the Academic Challenge Team, the Multicultural Club, the Community Band, and her church choir. She has played Volleyball and Tennis and was a member of the Yearbook staff.
