DPW: Road work ahead, expect delays
NORWICH – Department of Public Works Director Randy Gibbon said crews would soon begin working on two major roadways, causing delays for motorists. The DPW will be working on County Route 16 for a about a five-mile stretch past the New York State Route 23 intersection beginning Monday morning. Crews will be working on the drainage and shoulder of the road for about a five-mile stretch and traffic will be reduced to one lane causing possible delays.
On Wednesday, the DPW will begin paving County Route 35 for about a six-mile stretch past the intersection with New York State Route 8. Traffic will also be reduced to one lane. Gibbon said the projects would take a minimum of six days to complete and could be slowed or delayed on account of bad weather.
While traveling through these areas, motorists should be aware of reduced speed markers. New York State law doubles the fines for any traffic tickets given in a construction area.
