Historical Society plans potluck

NORWICH – The Chenango County Historical Society plans a members’ potluck dinner in conjunction with the regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 16. Members are invited to bring a covered dish to pass, and their own place setting. Beverages will be provided.
Anyone interested in becoming a member is also welcome to attend. Those planning to come should call CCHS at 334-9227, so we can plan for tables and chairs. Members are also encouraged to invite prospective members. The picnic will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed at 7 by the regular business meeting and program.
The evening’s program will be a presentation by CCHS Youth Volunteer John Antonowicz on the history of the Jewish Center in Norwich. The PowerPoint presentation includes the building’s history as the Eaton family home as well as the history of the Jewish community in Norwich. Antonowicz, a student at the Norwich Middle School, has been a volunteer at CCHS for three years and has helped in developing exhibits on Chenango County businesses and industry. He is also an avid collector of Norwich memorabilia.
The Chenango County Historical Society Museum is located at 45 Rexford Street, Norwich. For more information call 334-9227.
