Last day for candidates to file in county elections
NORWICH – Today is the final day to file a designated petition with the five major parties for the offices of Sheriff, County Court Judge and County Clerk.
So far, each open position has only one candidate and the deadline for those wanting to run in the upcoming elections is 5 p.m. today.
The Board of Elections said Thursday that Republican Ernest R. Cutting was the sole candidate for the office of Sheriff. Cutting was appointed as acting Sheriff in June and was former sheriff Thomas J. Loughren’s undersheriff before accepting the appointment.
Also, Republican incumbent W. Howard Sullivan is running unopposed for Chenango County Court Judge and Democratic incumbent Mary C. Weidman is the only candidate for Chenango County Clerk.
