Sun photographer injured in accident

NORWICH – Evening Sun photographer Frank Speziale, 73, Norwich, was injured in a motor vehicle accident early Tuesday morning while traveling home from an assignment.
According to police, Speziale was traveling east on Front Street in the City of Norwich on his 2005 Yamaha scooter when a 2000 GMC pick-up truck backed out of a driveway in front of him.
The vehicle, operated by 24-year-old Matthew T. Flanagan of Norwich, allegedly backed out into the street, blocking Speziale’s path and resulting in a collision.
The Norwich Fire Department EMS responded to the scene and transported Speziale to Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, where he is listed in stable condition.
The Norwich Police Department concluded its investigation of the incident and issued a ticket to Flanagan for unsafe backing.
