NORWICH – The Norwich Police Department and the New York State Police are investigating a hit and run, three-car accident that took place at about 2 p.m. along North Broad Street in the City of Norwich Thursday.

A vehicle driven by an as yet unnamed motorist hit the rear end of a second four-door sedan, which then lunged forward and struck a third vehicle stopped at the crosswalk of North Broad and West Park Place.

The suspect who caused the accident then backed up and drove around both vehicles before making a left hand turn at a nearby red light intersection and headed up West Main Street.
