Hazardous waste collection day Saturday
NORWICH – It’s clean-out day on Saturday.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Chenango County Department of Public Works sponsors its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at the highway garage on 79 Rexford St.
Drop off is for pre-registered customers only, but there’s still time to make an appointment by calling 337-1792.
The following is accepted: any household chemicals, including pesticides and mercury; compact flouescent bulbs; electronics and monitors; and paint.
Last year, the DPW took in 5,000 pounds of electronics and 3,250 gallons of household chemicals. With the resources donated by Golden Artists Colors of Columbus, 495 gallons of latex paint were recycled.
