Sex and alcohol felonies fill grand jury’s indictments

NORWICH – Wednesday, the Chenango County grand jury indicted three individuals with sex crimes, two of them violent assaults and one alleged pedophilia.

Two repeat offenders also were indicted for driving under the influence of alcohol with children in their vehicles.

Here’s a list of those indicted Wednesday:

• Twenty-six-year-old Lee Anthony Warner of Sherburne was indicted with first-degree criminal sexual act, a class B felony, and second-degree assault, a class D felony.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Warner Sept. 10 after he allegedly sexually assaulted his female roommate. The indictment claimed Warner was “using forcible compulsion by punching (the victim) and holding her down,” causing physical injury to the woman.

Lt. James E. Lloyd said the residence was not known to police for past domestic violence incidents, but referred to the crime as a domestic incident because the defendant and the victim had a past personal relationship.

“She was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital following the attack and treated for her injuries there. She was released later that day.”

Warner was arraigned in Sherburne Village Court and remanded to the Chenango County jail on $25,000 cash bail.
