Webinar series “Your Business & Marcellus Shale” to be offered in Chenango
NORWICH – Commerce Chenango, the lead economic development organization for Chenango County, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chenango County, are pleased to co-sponsor a webinar series entitled “Your Business & Marcellus Shale.”
This webinar series will be offered over the course of five weeks from Oct. 14 through Nov. 10. The ninety minute sessions will be held at Commerce Chenango, and each will consist of a sixty minute seminar, followed by a thirty minute discussion.
The “Your Business & Marcellus Shale” program is targeted towards small and medium sized businesses, entrepreneurs, and is designed to help them understand and take advantage of the business opportunities arising from Marcellus Shale. Participants will learn about Marcellus Shale, the business implications and opportunities, how other local businesses are responding in other areas where gas drilling is taking place, and how they can explore and take advantage of these opportunities.
This program is being offered by the Penn State natural gas education team, in cooperation with local business and economic development leaders, in order to increase awareness of the business opportunities in Marcellus Shale, and to assist in providing education and training about why this issue is important to local businesses. The webinars will be taught by a team of experts, including business development trainers, university faculty, natural gas industry representatives, and business people who are working successfully with the industry.
Each session will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Session dates and topics will be as follows:
• Oct. 14: The Economic Implications of Marcellus Shale
• Oct. 21: Identifying Local Business Opportunities, and Working with the Industry
• Oct. 28: Successful Examples of Business Opportunities
• Nov. 4: Small Business Planning for Marcellus Shale
• Nov. 10: Working Together with Others for Success
This series will be offered at no cost to Chenango County businesses. Non-resident businesses will be asked to pay a fee of $10 per session. Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. Participants do not have to attend all five webinars, and may choose the sessions that interest them most.
