OT goal gives Sidney win over Greene

GREENE – Held in check most of the game, Sidney’s leading scorer, Dani Gravel got loose in the first overtime, and tallied the game’s only goal in Wednesday’s win at Greene.
Gravel scored at 8:31 after receiving a centering pass from mate Kristen Witten. “We had (Gravel) marked one-on-one, and we had her pretty well contained most of the game,” said Greene coach Brandy Stone. “We didn’t have many really good chances on offense, and their keeper happed to always be in the right place at the right time.”
Greene plays at Unatego Friday.

BAINBRIDGE – B-G won its second straight game making a first-half goal, and surviving UV’s offensive onslaught in the final minutes.
Chelsea Rosa sent a long pass from her defensive position into the penalty area, and Lauren Porter scored for the Bobcats (2-5, 2-7) at the 14:25 mark.
UV racked up 21 shots to hold a significant edge over B-G. Bobcats keeper Caiti Anderson finished with 16 saves to preserve the win. “They were all over us the final minutes,” said B-G coach George Williams. “I have to hand it to our kids, most of them played 80 minutes. Caiti also had another outstanding game. The last four or five minutes, she made some great saves.”
B-G plays at Oxford Friday.

OXFORD – Delhi made its one goal stand up before play was halted with 23:30 left in the second half due to lightning.
Maggie Bryden scored 30 seconds into the game for the Bulldogs dribbling through the Oxford defense and hitting an 18-yard shot from the right side into the net.
“We just came out flat at the start,” said Oxford coach Kathleen Cragle. “We picked it up as the game went on, and we did better with our ball possession.”
Oxford (2-5) hosts B-G Friday.

Boys’ Soccer

Otselic Valley 1, Madison 0
SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley scored in the first half, and that was enough to defeat Madison as play was halted after halftime due to thunder and lightning.
Nate Stark collected the ball after a rebounded shot, and scored unassisted for the Vikings.
OV hosts DeRuyter on Friday.

SHERBURNE – Mount Markham scored all of its goals in the first half to post a shutout win at Sherburne-Earlville Wednesday.
Darvin Waddis scored twice for the Mustangs, who held a 12-3 edge in shots on goal.
“We are having problems organizing ourselves on defense, and that was something we were doing well for four or five games (earlier in the season),” said S-E coach Mike Rodriguez.
S-E plays Sauquoit Valley on Friday.

Oneonta 202, Norwich 208
ONEONTA – Norwich shot the best team score at Oneonta Country Club this season prior to Wednesday afternoon. The ‘Jackets, though, posted the best overall total, and avenged a loss to the Tornado from earlier this month.
Isaiah Fleming shot an even-par 36 to lead Oneonta.
Jacob Kelly was just one-over-par topping the Tornado with a 37. “We play anyone else there from this season, and we win the match,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham. “Oneonta shot lights out.”
Eric Walling had a 40 and Frank Somich a 44 for the Tornado (6-5).
