Former NFL player speaks at S-E

SHERBURNE – Tim Green, author, lawyer and former Atlanta Falcons football player, will stress the importance of reading this morning to approximately 600 Sherburne/Earlvlle Middle School students.
The top defensive player studied law and began a writing career during his eight years with the National Football League, and had already published his first book and become a lawyer before retiring. After writing 15 books for grown-ups, many of them best-sellers, he began a series of best-selling novels for kids set in a world of sports taken from his own experiences as an ahtlete and a coach. In that time, Green has spoken to school children across the country about the importance of school and books and the joys and benefits of reading.
The program is co-sponsored by the Sherburne/Earlville Middle School’s Character Education program and Literacy Committee, and made possible with funding from BOCES Arts in Education and a decentralization grant from the Chenango County Council of the Arts. Green will donate more than 100 copies of his recent best seller, “Football Champ,” to the school’s library.
