Cyclones A team blanks Holland Patent

HOLLAND PATENT – Michael Oralls opened the Norwich Cyclones’ scoring in the first quarter with a 46-yard TD run, and Oralls had 105 yards on five carries for the A team in a 30-0 shutout of Holland Patent last weekend.
Frank Garcia returned a Knights punt to the 16-yard line and scored two plays later on a six-yard run. Michael Sutton  had a 30-yard TD run in the second quarter with Randy Stokes kicking all three extra points to make the score 24-0 at halftime. Trent Stone raced 81 yards in the third quarter to finish the Cyclones scoring on the day.
The Blue and Gold defenses held the Golden Knights to zero first downs and minus-32 yards of total offense for the day.
The Cyclones’  B team fell from the undefeated ranks, 13-0, to a powerful Holland Patent team. The Cyclones’ defense held the Knights out of the endzone three times with outstanding team play.
The Cyclones’ C team fell 12-6 Sunday to the Knights for their first loss of the season. Two long TD runs in the first quarter were the difference in the game.
The Cyclones had a 35-yard TD run called back and were also intercepted in the endzone. The lone Cyclones score came on a pass from Cole Rifanburg to Carter Hubbard.
The Cyclones’ D team dominated play in the first game of the day in a non-scoring game.
The Norwich Cyclones cheerleaders will compete in the Tri-Valley League Championships Saturday Oct. 3 at the Utica Auditorium.
The Cyclones gridders  will be at home at Alumni Field this weekend against the Utica Bulldogs.
Game times are 9 a.m.,11 a.m.,1 p.m., and 3 p.m. for the D, C, B, and A teams respectively. The A team game will feature two undefeated teams as both have 4-0 records on the season.
