Woods Tea Co. opens New Berlin Art Forum series

NEW BERLIN – Established in 1981, with a goal to please the audience, The Woods Tea Company can be enjoyed in concert at the Unadilla Valley Central School Saturday, Oct. 3 starting at 7 p.m. This is a musical group that defies categorization with their acoustical bluegrass, Celtic tunes, sea shanties and folk songs perform all with equal ease and skill. The group draws on a wide variety of musical experience and expression. They employ as many as a dozen different instruments including banjoes and bouzoukis, guitars and bodhrán.
After building a solid reputation in New England, The Wood’s Tea Company began touring a nationwide circuit. The group performs about 120 days a year, playing at venues ranging from town greens to high school & college auditoriums, churches and from pubs to Lincoln Center, offering their diverse set of musical talents.
“Folk Music Quarterly” described them as “... one of the hottest up and coming acts,” saying “… sidestepping pretension and going for the grit, this New England group gives a lusty performance every time.”
Performance tickets are available at a cost of $10 each for non-members from the New Berlin Library, Service Pharmacy, New Berlin, and Chenango County Council of the Arts, Norwich and at the door the evening of the performance. Refreshments will be available.
Tickets for the Art Forum yearly raffle will be available at all performances and includes 1st Prize: Two Tickets to Broadway Theatre League’s “Cabaret” at the Stanley Center for the Arts in Utica in May 2010 and Dinner for Two at Thornberry’s plus a $25 gas card, total value $200. 2nd prize is a Fenimore Art Association Family Membership which includes admission to The Farmers’ Museum; Value $80. Raffle tickets are $1each or six for $5.
