Greene hosts historic ghost walks
GREENE – If tales of ghostly apparitions and things that go bump in the night send chills up your spine, the historic ghost tours being sponsored this month by the Greene Paranormal Society will be right up your alley.
Each Thursday during the month of October, the society’s members will lead tours through Greene’s historic downtown district. Guides will include local mediums Cathie Bagnall and MaryAnn Browning as well as Bill Lenga of Smithville, a paranormal investigator certified through the International Ghost Hunters Society.
The tours will meet at 7:30 p.m. at The Goody Bag, located at 76 Genesee St. in Greene. In the comfort of the specialty shop, participants will both hear about the long history of Greene, and learn about the spirit activity witnessed by proprietors Beth and Josh Browning.
From there, the informal tour will continue along Genesee Street, making stops at various sites to hear tales of the village’s history and perhaps witness some of the ghostly occurrences which have resulted from those long-ago events.
The route, which will take approximately 1 1/2 hours, will loop back through the downtown area to finish up at Nathanael Greene’s Public House.
A donation of $10 per person is suggested, with all proceeds going to benefit the Greene Food Pantry. For more information, contact Bill Lenga at 656-7594, MaryAnn Browning at 725-6881 or Cathie Bagnall at 656-4321.
