Kreiner unopposed for Plymouth supervisor post

PLYMOUTH – Republican Jerry L. Kreiner, 41, of state Highway 23 in South Plymouth, is running unopposed for town supervisor, a position he has held for five, two-year terms. Kreiner is a member of the Personnel and Planning & Economic Development committees.
There are no races on the town council either. Appointee Robert Baker is leaving after refilling a vacant position three years ago. In his place on the ballot is political newcomer and Democrat Drew F. Piaschyk. Incumbent Robert I. Brown, also a Democrat, is running for another four-year term as councilman. He has been a fixture on the board for more than 20 years.
Three-term Highway Superintendent Peter Marshall, running on the Republican line, is being challenged by newcomer Thomas Cohen, running on the Democratic line.
Constituents also have to vote for or against a proposition on the ballot that would reduce the official number of town justices from two to one, effective Dec. 31, 2009. Only one justice has been serving the town of late.
A public hearing on the town’s 2010 proposed budget will be held Nov. 9. The amount to be raised for the general fund is $60,870, up from $56,430 last year. For highways, the figure is $360,000, up from $260,000 in 2009. Councilman Gary Simpson said the town was expecting less state aid from the Consolidated Highway Improvement Project (CHIPs).
Plymouth voters go to the polls at the Plymouth Fire Station, 3461 state Hwy 23, South Plymouth.
