Greene reaches Section IV finals

Greene 3, Delhi 0
DELHI – Delhi may have earned the higher seed and a home game in the playoffs, but it was the Trojans who once again proved they were superior to the Bulldogs.
In another demonstration of second-half dominance, Greene (17-1) beat Delhi for the third time this season scoring all of its goals in the second half on Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans meet Marathon in the Section IV Class C championship game Saturday at 11:15 at the Soccer Hall of Fame fields in Oneonta.
“It’s hard to beat a good team three times, and Delhi is a very good team,” said Greene third-year coach, Rick Tallman. “We came out and played hard and aggressive. We managed to put it together today.”
Unlike the first two meetings where Delhi countered often and had the Trojans on the defensive, it was Greene who controlled play, almost from the opening kickoff. The Bulldogs were missing a key player on defense, their starting sweeper, so they resorted to packing in the defense, Tallman said.
