Lloyd named Chenango County Undersheriff
NORWICH – Chenango County Sheriff Earnest Cutting named Lt. James Lloyd, 40, as his undersherrif Monday during a meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
A native of New Berlin, Lloyd has been Chenango County Patrol Lieutenant since June 2003. He began his long career with the Sheriff’s Office in May 1989, serving in the corrections division under Sheriff Morris Eccleston. He became a patrol deputy in 1992, was promoted to detective in 1994, became patrol sergeant in 1995, and was detective sergeant from 1999 to 2003.
One of the new undersheriff’s main goals is to continue overseeing the law enforcement division under Sheriff Cutting’s administration.
“We are going to continue doing the same thing we’ve been doing for the past 20 years: Providing a safe and secure community that offers a very good quality of life that is not riddled with urban problems,” he said.
Lloyd said he would also continue to oversee the county’s sex offender registry, something he said he is very concerned about.
“Keeping our children safe in our community from sexual predators is one of my main goals,” he added.
