The Clancy Legacy Celtic Christmas Concert comes to Earlville

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House presents The Clancy Legacy Celtic Christmas Concert on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Catherine Cummings Theater in Cazenovia at 4 p.m. This warm holiday celebration has a distinct Celtic flavor and extends from the little known Kilmore carols of Wexford to the Irish-American vaudeville stage. The Earlville Opera House thanks the generous support of WAER-FM for making this performance possible.
This Celtic Christmas concert is a celebration of the holiday season in the Clancy tradition! The Clancy Legacy includes some of the next generation of performers descended from the Clancy Brothers of Ed Sullivan fame in the 1960’s. Aoife Clancy (pronounced “Eefa”) is on vocals and bodhran, Robbie O’Connell on guitar and vocals and George Keith on fiddle and concertina – together they create a delightful musical tapestry to celebrate the season.
Aoife Clancy’s father, Bobby Clancy of the renowned Clancy Brothers, put a guitar in her hands at ten, and soon, she was performing at local venues. From traditional Irish songs to ballads, she has established a reputation of excellence in the Celtic music scene, fronting the acclaimed group Cherish the Ladies for four years. With her beautiful voice and refreshing range, Aiofe sings with a sincerity that would melt packed ice with its warmth and richness.
Robbie O’Connell was born in Waterford, Ireland and grew up in County Tipperary. He began to play guitar and sing at age thirteen and soon became a regular performer at the weekly folk concerts at his family’s hotel. In 1977, he joined the Clancy Brothers with whom he recorded 3 albums. He has won a prestigious Boston Music Award for Outstanding Celtic Act and teaches songwriting at Augusta Heritage Arts in West Virginia, Gaelic Roots Week at Boston College and at the Summer Acoustic Music Week in Boston.
The performance is Saturday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. only at the Catherine Cummings Theater (a.k.a. Cazenovia College Theater on Lincklaen Street in Cazenovia) and will benefit the Earlville Opera House. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Cazenovia Jewelry has tickets that are available in Cazenovia. Tickets are $24 for adults and $16 for 18 and under. To charge tickets by phone or for more information, please call the Earlville Opera House at (315) 691-3550.
Earlville Opera House events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and through the generosity of Earlville Opera House members.
