New lounge open for business
NORWICH – The Park Place Lounge, located in the rear of the Park Place Restaurant, East Park Place, has opened its doors and is ready for business. “We’re so excited to finally have the lounge open,” said owner Dave Cirello. “Our lounge has more of a mid-scale, family friendly atmosphere.”
The Park Place Lounge will be open at 11 a.m. seven days a week, and will offer appetizers, burgers and sandwiches from 9 p.m. to midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In addition, Thursdays from 8 to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to midnight will be known as “wing nights” at the lounge, with customers able to choose from 12 varieties of wings. Appetizers will also be half-price everyday between 4 and 6 p.m.
On Friday, Jan. 15, the lounge will host its grand opening, complete with live music, a possible live radio broadcast and “gift certificates and prizes throughout the day,” said Cirello. “There’s going to be a surprise Grand Prize, and let me tell you, you don’t want to miss this.”
The renovated lounge sports three big-screen televisions, a fully stocked bar and the New York Lottery’s Quick Draw game. The game is also available for customers in the main dining room.
“I’d like to remind people that all of our entrees are priced between $9.99 and $14.99, and are served all day,” said Chic Cirello, Dave’s father and co-owner of the Park Place Restaurant and Fred’s Inn. “No entree we serve will be priced higher than $14.99.”
The Park Place Restaurant is now serving breakfast, including a full breakfast menu and buffet, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. “On the weekends children under 5 will eat breakfast for free,” said Cirello. “We also have a children’s menu which is priced between $3.99 and $6.99.” Patrons may add a kid’s sundae for $1.49.
“It’s been busy, and I think it’s only going to get busier as word gets around,” said bartender Nikki Hannon. “I love working here. It’s a great job and I have a lot of regular clientele who know me, so it’s a lot of fun.”
The lounge is accessible from its rear entrance on Lackawanna Avenue or the front entrance of the restaurant. Anyone with questions may contact the Park Place Restaurant and Lounge at 336-7275.
