Supervisors take stand on proposed legislation

NORWICH – The Chenango County Board of Supervisors recently voted to oppose or support the following proposed federal and New York State legislation:

• To implore the federal government to take immediate action to help relieve the dairy industry’s fiscal crisis. To provide immediate additional funding payments to farmers from the Milk Income Loss Contract; to fully utilize the Dairy Export Incentive and the Food for Peace programs; to increase the product price levels in the Dairy Product Price Support program; to make immediate dairy product purchase for nutrition programs which received large increases in funding from the federal stimulus package.

• To oppose $25 new license plate fees in New York.
