NORWICH – The Norwich City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect in a hit and run accident that occurred early Friday morning along Hale Street.

At approximately 6:40 a.m., a car heading east on Hale Street crossed the center line and forced two cars in the oncoming lane onto the shoulder.

The suspect’s vehicle sideswiped the first car, a green Mazda, and then nearly struck a Chenango County Transit bus head-on. Police said both the bus driver and the car’s driver pulled their vehicles up onto the curb in an attempt to avoid a collision.
