Pennysaver hosts judging for state awards
NORWICH – For over 30 years, the Free Community Papers of New York Association has rewarded the best graphic designers in the region through its annual awards competition, and for the first time, held the judging at the offices of the Norwich Pennysaver this week.
“For the last ten years, the awards committee has made an attempt to take the awards judging around to the many different locations that are a part of the State Association,” said Awards Committee Member Karen Sawicz. “We’re excited to finally hold the judging process here in the City of Norwich.”
Sawicz commented that over 800 entries were submitted for the 2010 competition, which will announce winners on March 22 at the Turning Stone Casino and Resort, during its annual “super conference.”
“Free Community Papers of New York takes great pride in the professional way these awards are judged,” stated Sawicz. “We award first, second and third place plaques to winning publications in 14 categories, in addition to our Ad Creation Contest, which rewards the artist with $100 and a plaque for their publication.”
Sawicz stated that a professional presentation is the key to a winning graphic design entry, and that she found the overall quantity, and quality, of the entries amazing.
“The awards committee would like to thank the Norwich Pennysaver for having us here,” said Sawicz. “We’d also like to thank the many graphic artists for their continued support and submissions. This is just a great way to recognize and reward their tremendous abilities.”
