SOUTH OTSELIC – Otselic Valley received some hot early shooting from Jeff Pittsley, and beat George Jr. Republic on Tuesday night in a non-league game.
Pittsley hit three three-pointers in the first quarter, and had four trifectas by halftime as OV snatched a 34-15 lead. Pittsley finished with 27 points and 15 rebounds.
“(Jeff) was real hot in the first half, and we needed that because we weren’t able to get the ball inside,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “Later in the game we were able to get the ball inside and make some shots.”
Ethan Rounds added a season-high 12 points to go with 11 rebounds. OV (10-5) hosts Cincinnatus on Friday.

CORTLAND – Norwich’s Matt Murray brought home his team’s first top finish in this winter’s indoor track and field season this past weekend at Cortland State.
Murray was a winner in the ninth-tenth grade 600-meter race timing a 1:33.7, said Norwich assistant coach Paul Sims.
Shannon Curley added a third in the 1,500-meter race-walk timing 9:20.3, Sarah Spittler was fifth in the 3,000 meters (12:35.6) and 1,500 meters (5:25.1), and Jamie Zieno was sixth for the boys in the 3,200 meters (11:49.1).
