DERUYTER – DeRuyter six-footer Jolene Cox had a big third quarter for the Rockets, who staved off OV’s fourth-quarter comeback effort in this past Monday’s matchup.
Cox had four layups in the third quarter to help extend her team’s lead to 27-14. OV was hurt by poor shooting in the opening half connecting on just two field goals. “We played pretty good defense, for the most part, but the first half was our worst shooting of the season,” said OV coach Danielle Graham.
Taylor Monroe led OV’s strong fourth quarter. Monroe hit two three-pointers and had eight of her team-high 13 points in the last stanza.
The Vikings play at Madison on Saturday afternoon.
