Collison appointed as Norwich interim business manager

NORWICH – The Norwich City School District’s Board of Education has appointed an interim business official to guide the district through the transition period surrounding the departure of long-time Deputy Superintendent Margaret Boice.
James Collison, former business manager for the Cooperstown Central School District, will assume the duties of the interim position effective Feb. 3.
Boice, who has served as the district’s top business official for 15 years, tendered her resignation on Jan. 3. She is leaving her $124,540 a year administrative position for a job as assistant superintendent of business services for the Ithaca City School District. Her final day at Norwich will be March 7.
According to Superintendent Gerard O’Sullivan, Collison will work alongside Boice on a part-time basis prior to her departure and then continue on in a more full-time capacity until a permanent replacement is found.
Collison will be paid a per diem rate of $425 per day for the duration of his time with the district.
The search for Boice’s replacement has already begun, according to the superintendent, who said he intends to have a recommendation before the board by the end of March.
“I think we’ll have a good transition,” O’Sullivan said, describing Collison as a “respected individual, very knowledgeable in his profession” who came highly recommended from several sources.
