Blues-Folk artist John Scarpulla at 6OTS Saturday

OXFORD – This Saturday at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) welcomes singer-songwriter, John Scarpulla to their stage. Scarpulla's music is hard to define; it crosses musical boundaries with a deep groove in blues, but at the same time it also honors soul and pop. Let’s just say it reflects classic Americana music. Whatever the style, it will speak to you and comfort you; it is clean, soulful and honest. John’s music, and his acoustic guitar, will take you on a journey you will not soon forget.
Raised in New York City, John began playing music in his early twenties. Now hailing from the Albany area, Scarpulla has a loyal grass-roots fan base and continuously tours throughout the Northeast. His past city-life experiences became metaphors interwoven into the poetry of his music. John’s songwriting evolved over the past 15-years giving him time to develop his style. Today, John sings songs he’s composed from a “creative palette of images” from his view of the world and of the human condition; he sings from his heart.
Erik Hage of MetroLand writes, “…[Scarpulla] has a big soulful voice and some dazzling poetical chops to bolster his fine melodic sensibilities.”
John’s debut CD, “Blue Ruin,” is receiving great reviews. His music is a powerful testimony of love, loss and redemption told through rich lyrics, delivered with soul-pounding vocals and driven by deep, infectious grooves. Don’t miss this dazzling performance.
Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $12 until the day of the show; $15 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Don't miss future performances: Chris Shaw on Feb. 6th, Doug & Telisha Williams on Feb. 27, and Ronny Cox (yes, the famous actor is an accomplished musician too) on March 12th. All shows are at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information.
