Auxiliary’s donation aids Chenango Memorial projects
NORWICH –Chenango Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary Board President Marilyn Quinney recently presented a check for $50,000 to Dr. Drake Lamen, President and CEO of Chenango Memorial. This check, which is the highest amount in a decade, represents proceeds from the Auxiliary’s activities throughout 2009 on behalf of the hospital. Chenango Memorial’s Auxiliary and volunteers run the hospital’s gift shop and the Pink Door thrift shop.
In addition, the Auxiliary sponsors numerous fund raising opportunities including book sales, uniform sales, and this year’s Festival of Trees to support the services provided by Chenango Memorial. Dr. Lamen expressed sincere thanks to the Auxiliary members and volunteers for their generosity and dedication to CMH. The donation will be used toward the purchase of a central fetal monitoring system for the hospital’s maternity unit, which will support the staff in providing patient-centered care. Dr. Lamen commented, “We truly appreciate the hard work of the Auxiliary which helps us continue to update and improve our equipment, facility and services so that we may better serve our patients.”
In addition to this donation, over the past year the Auxiliary contributed over $10,000 for landscaping and beautification, patient care and comfort projects, outreach, scholarships for students choosing health care careers, and employee appreciation. There are many volunteer opportunities at Chenango Memorial Hospital. For more information about them, contact Director of Volunteers Julie Clarke at 337-4151.
