Norwich PTSA celebrates Founders Day Thursday

NORWICH – The Norwich PTSA will host a Founders Day Celebration at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Norwich Middle School in honor of the founders of the first parent-teachers organizations.

“This year we will be honoring three individuals who have made a huge difference in the lives of our children and community,” said Norwich PTSA President Victoria Mitchell. Those being recognized for their contributions are Dave Sheldon, Debbie Flanagan and Julie Wallen.

The reception, which is free and open to the public, will include tours of the Middle School, a performance by the Norwich High School Jazz Ensemble, a display of student artwork and dessert provided by Casual Catering.

According to Mitchell, the Founders Day event is intended to be a reminder of the role the PTSA and other similar organizations play in supporting parent involvement and working on behalf of all children and families.
