Oxford completes fourth straight perfect run through division play

BAINBRIDGE – Oxford completed its fourth straight perfect run through MAC Division II play, and extended its division winning streak to 40 games in Saturday’s victory at B-G.
The Blackhawks (12-5) jumped out to a 36-13 lead at halftime to assume command of the game. Booker Davis led Oxford with 14 points and Cory Seiler scored 13.
Justin Pepper had 13 for B-G (7-10), Ryan Porter had 11, and Steve Patten 10.
Oxford, the defending league champion plays Walton this Saturday at SUNY Oneonta in the league championship game.

COPES CORNERS – Matt Struckle, a key component in Laurens’ Tri-Valley League title last year, keyed his team’s late-game surge in a win over G-MU (6-11) Friday night.
After the Raiders’ Jon Scofield put back a layup to close the margin to one point, it was all Laurens and Struckle. Struckle had back-to-back steals after G-MU miscues. He converted the first into a layup, and drew a foul and made two free throws on the latter. Struckle was 5-for-6 from the foul line in the last quarter.
“We lost all kinds of offensive rhythm at the end of the game and were not able to score,” said G-MU coach Bill Hartman, “and we were in chase mode the rest of the way.”
Laurens was also one of the few teams this season to find success against G-MU’s interior defense. Forward Jesse Tilley led the Laurens attack with 17 points.
Andrew Delmar led G-MU with 15.

Dan Gehl scored 18 points, mostly on the inside, to pace the Warriors (15-2), who face Oxford on Saturday at SUNY Oneonta.
MIke Schowe scored 12 points for UV, who finish the season at 2-16.

DELHI – Greene ended a three-game losing streak, and avenged a road defeat to Delhi from earlier this season.
Mark McDermott had a double-double scoring 15 points and pulling down 15 rebounds for Greene. He also had five blocked shots. Mike Hollings, make his second straight start, played an integral role with his interior defense against Delhi’s Zach Newkerk and Jacob Haynes. Newkerk and Haynes combined for just 14 points Saturday after scoring 31 in the two clubs’ first meeting. “We came out fired up and played great defense all the way through,” said Greene coach Jeff Paske.
Greene held Delhi to 12-for-44 (27 percent) shooting for the game.
Scott Gorton and Jeff Carlin split 16 points evenly for Greene (8-9), who play at Hancock Wednesday.
