Officer sworn in, Eagle Scout recognized

NORWICH – Chief of Police Joseph Angelino swore in a new city police officer, and a Troop 62 Eagle Scout was recognized at Tuesday nights’ Common Council meeting.

Officer Evan Romaine, a 24 year old graduate of Oxford Academy with a two-year degree in criminal justice, delivered his oath before members of the council, Mayor Joe Maiurano and a group of city police officers.

Angelino reported that the hiring fulfills requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which will cover expenses for Romaine’s Police Academy training, and added that the new officer will help to “maintain the level of safety and security in the City of Norwich.”
