Drug bust nabs six in Norwich area narcotics probe
NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Department arrested six people between Feb. 9 and 19 following a three-week investigation into crack cocaine trafficking in the Norwich area.
Sheriff’s investigators released the names of six people arrested in the case Saturday, five of them from Norwich.
The following were charged with one count of first degree criminal nuisance, a felony.
• Leon Bellamy Jr., 27, Syracuse
• Wendy F. Peck, 37, Norwich
• Chad J. Shields, 40, Norwich
Chenango County Sheriff’s Lt. Richard Cobb said members of the Sheriff’s Department, Norwich City Police and New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) executed a no-knock search warrant at the residence of Peck and Shields in Miller’s Trailer Park, where police discovered drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of marijuana in connection to the case.
The following other three individuals were charged with one count each of first degree loitering, a misdemeanor.
• Denise C. Cecula, 56, Norwich
• Michael R. Bishop, 36, Norwich
• Brandi R. Button, 27, Norwich
Cobb said Cecula, Bishop and Button were charged with loitering because “they were at a premises seeking illegal narcotics.”
