OXFORD – Police arrested a 21-year-old Oxford man for a number of sex crimes Saturday after he allegedly molested and raped a three-year-old girl.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Justin R. Zimmerman and charged him with predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Zimmerman was arrested after an investigation by sheriff’s deputies and Chenango County Child Protective Services. He was arraigned in Oxford Village Court and sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail.
Also arrested was Cassandra A. Zimmerman, 24, of Norwich. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and making a false written statement to police. She was released and will appear in court at a later date.
Police refused to identify the victim, but said the girl was not a stranger to the defendant.
