Doug and Telisha Williams Saturday at 6OTS

OXFORD – This Saturday at 7:30 p.m, 6 On The Square (6OTS) is pleased to welcome Doug and Telisha Williams. Hailing from a Southwest Virginia area that lies in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, these young artists write and sing about hard times and how life is lived. They blend old time country and honky-tonk with blues, and can go from a knock-your-socks-off country ballad to an energetic “butt kicking” rouser.
Doug is an accomplished guitar player on both acoustic and electric and has plenty of ability to pick, pluck, strum, or bend a guitar string to get the sound he’s looking for.
Telisha has the presence and poise of an actress with extremely versatile and commanding vocals. Her beautiful voice is capable of twang, rock ‘n roll or romantic ballads.
This charismatic duo has been performing in ‘sweet-harmony’ since high school when they were first sweethearts. Fourteen years later, they’re married and still making beautiful music together. Doug and Telisha embody the true Southern songwriting tradition. Their roots are real, their words are true, and you can hear, smell, and taste that influence in all of their songs. Their new record, “Ghost of the Knoxville Girl” is being recognized for that honest flavor and has been climbing the Americana Music Charts!
“Telisha’s vocals carry the twang of Steve Earle and Nanci Griffith, while Doug’s bluesy, country guitar conveys both rhythm and harmony.” – Performing Songwriter.
Get energized with the potent Southern flavor of Doug and Telisha Williams! Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $12 until the day of the show; $15 at the door. Doors open at 6:30.
Don’t miss future performances by: Ronny Cox (actor/musician) on Friday, March 12; and Peppino D’Agostino on Saturday, March 27. All shows are at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information.
In addition, 6OTS currently has an art gallery exhibit of works by Oxford Academy High School students of Art Instructor Joni Eaton, as they interpret famous artists. On March 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., 6OTS will be holding an opening reception for local artist Jill Kraft.
6OTS is located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford. Phone: 843-OTS6 (6876).
